ECU Software & Definition Files
Updated: 10 hours ago
Before tuning MS41, you need the correct software and matching definition files.
Main Software
RomRaider
Used to:
• Open ECU files
• Edit fuel and ignition tables
• Change injector, MAF, VANOS, and limiter settings
• Datalog the ECU
MS41 QuickFlash
Used to:
• Read the ECU
• Save original files
• Flash calibration changes
• Perform full flashes
• Install MS41.3
Definition Files
RomRaider needs definition files to understand the ECU data.
ECU Definitions
Used for editing.
They identify:
• Fuel tables
• Ignition tables
• Injector settings
• MAF tables
• VANOS settings
• Rev limiters
• Control bits
• MS41.3 extended tables
Logger Definitions
Used for datalogging.
They allow RomRaider to read:
• RPM
• Load
• MAF
• Injector Pulse Width
• Fuel trims
• Ignition timing
• Knock retard
• Temperatures
• Load.x
• MAF.x
MS41 ECU Portal
The MS41 ECU Portal can help install or update items such as:
• RomRaider
• ECU definitions
• Logger definitions
• FTDI drivers
• Supporting software
FergZ Garage Files
Some of the files currently being used by FergZ Garage will also be attached to this post for easier access.
These may include:
• ECU definition files
• Logger definition files
• MS41.3-related definition files
• Reference files used throughout this tuning guide
• Other supporting files used during tuning and logging
Simple Rule
ECU Definition = Editing
Logger Definition = Datalogging
You normally need both.
Before Continuing
Make sure:
☐ RomRaider is installed
☐ MS41 QuickFlash is installed
☐ Correct ECU definition is loaded
☐ Correct logger definition is loaded
☐ Your ECU software version is confirmed
